Down straight 2 blocks from the gate of our works
the shushi shop is located on the corner.
Its billboard says that they provide the customers
with the local produce fishes and shells.
On Sunday evenings it is filled with customers ranging
from women to young guys.
October 7th evening I had canceled the dinner at the
company housing because I had an appointment with
a guy from Tokyo. However he couldn't come.
After wondering for a while I decided to go to the sushi
shop I sometimes passed by.
On that night the wallet seemed full enough to go there.
It was about 6:00 a curtain was already out the light
of the lantern was also lit. Stepped inside
I saw a boy and a girl preparing busily.
No sooner I got in than they seemed appaled to see me.
They looked frozen as if they had met a phantom.
Very weird atmosphere between them and me.
" Did I need to make a reservation ? " I asked.
A boy replied " Just a minute I'll ask the master. "
He went out backyard. While he was out I asked the
girl " Am I required to make reservations all the time. "
She smiled vaguely without a word.
The master came in with the boy drying his wet hands
with an old towel.
His age maybe under 45 looks aggressive in his business.
He asked me " You don't have a previous engagement
you don't have any recommendation from the repeater
either do you ? "
" Neither of them do I have . "
" What brought you to my shop ? "
" I some times pass by and today I want to enjoy eating
shushi at your shop."
" My management policy is to get the customers to make
reservations. So next time after making reservations
come to my shop ."
In Sapporo Tokyo Fukuoka Osaka I have never been
asked to have reservations with the sushi shop before.
I was too much careless about the behavior of theirs
in the NEW world.
Prior to this experience I had been rejected to join the
English speaking club in Shizuoka a week before
My experience talks me now "Prior to breaking into the
New world be prepared. Look before you leap. !!! "
